منح ستيف جوبز العلب الكرتونية التي تحتوي علي اجهزتة الصغيرة المقدار نفسه من التفكير تقريبا الذي منحه لمنتجاته بحد ذاتها . ولا يعود ذلك الي حسن الذوق والاناقة ، علما انه جزء من ذلك . بالنسبة الي جوبز ان عملية سحب المنتوج ما من علبته هو جزء هام من خبرة المستخدم الذي يحلل العملية بعناية علي غرار تحليله لأي شئ اخر.
 
يعتبر جوبز ان عملية رزم المنتوج تساعد علي تقديم التكنلوجيا جديدة وغير مألوفة للمستهلكين . لنأخذ مثالا علي ذلك النسخة الاصلية لجهاز ماك  الذي تم انتاجه عام 1984. لم يكن احد في ذلك الوقت قد رأي شيئا مماثلا . كان ذلك الشئ الغريب – الفأرة – يتحكم به وليس لوحة المفاتيح علي غرار الاجهزة الشخصية الاخري التي صدرت في ذلك الوقت المبكر من صناعة الكمبيوتر . ولتعويد المستخدمين الجدد علي الفأرة ، حرص جوبز علي حزمها بشكل منفصل في مكانها الخاص . فحمل المستخدم علي فك الفأرة المحزومة – التقاطها ووصلها بالمقبس – يجعلها اقل غرابة بالنسبة اليه عندما يكون عليه استعمالها للمرة الاولي . في السنوات التالية قام جوبز بتصميم روتين خاص بكل من منتجات ابل المحزومة لفكها . فقد صممت عملية حزك آي ماك(iMac) بطريقة توضح كيفية وصل الجهاز بالانترنت ، وتضمنت عمليةالحزم اداة مقحمة من البولسترين مصممة خصيصا فتطوي لتكون سنادة لكتيب التعليمات النحيل .
بالإضافة الي الحزم ينظم جوبز كل ما من شأنه الإسهام في تشكيل خبرة المستخدم ، من الاعلانات التلفزيونية التي تثير الرغبة في الشراء بمنتجات ابل الي مخازن البيع بالمفرق التي تشبه المتاحف وحيث يتم شراء هذه المنتجات ، من البرمجيات  سهلة الاستخدام التي تسير آي فون  الي مخزون الموسيقي آي تيونز  المتوافر عبر الانترنت الذي يملأها بالالحان والصور .
جوبز هو منظم عجيب وغير عادي . انه شخص ينشد الكمال ايضا نخيوي ويحدد مهام موظفيه ووفقا لمعايير التقارير ، يقف جوبز علي حافة الجنون ويوصف بانه شخص يعاني من عجز كلي ويقيل الناس في المصاعد ويناور علي الشركاء ، و يحصل علي قروض خصصت للاخرين . وترسم السير الذاتية الحديثة صور غير متملقة لمريض اجتماعي تثيره الرغبات الاكثر دناءه الي التحكم يالاخرين اساءة المعاملة ، الهيمنة . فقراءة معظم الكتب التي تتناول جوبز تثير الكآبة في النفس . انها تحمل طابع الرفض وهي اشبه ببيانان عن ثورات الغضب واساءة المعاملة ولا عجب اذا دعيت تهجمات . اين هو جوبز من العبقرية اذا؟
من الواضح انه يقوم بعمل صحيح . فجوبز انقز ابل من شفير الإفلاس وجعل الشركة اكبر واكثر اذدهارا مما كانت عليه في اي وقت مضي في غضون عشر سنوات . لقد ضاعف المبيعات السنوية للشركة ثلاث مرات ، وضاعف حصة جهاز الماك في السوق ، ورفع يسعر سهم ابل في بنسبة 1,300 بالمئة . فالشركة تجني مزيدا من المال وتشحن عددا من اكبر اجهزة الكمبيوتر ، وذلك بفضل سلسلة المنتجات التي لاقت رواجا كبيرا ونتوجا جبارا.
بعد انزال اي بود  الي الاسواق في تشرين الاول / اكتوبر 2001 كان هذا الجهاز بمثابة تحول بالنسبة الي ابل . وكما تحولت ابل من شركة مغمورة تتقدم بجهد كبير الي شركة عالمية كبري ، كذلك تحول اي بود من سلعة كمالية غريبة الشكل ومرتفعة الثمن الي فئة متنوعة وهامة من المنتجات .
